The Member of the Month is a distinction awarded to Detroit Regional Chamber members that are helping to grow Southeast Michigan’s economy. The award recognizes members who are working to solve challenges and further discussions on timely issues that matter to Southeast Michigan’s business community. The Member of the Month shares in the Chamber’s mission of growing the region’s economy by engaging in various activities focused on business attraction, talent, education and positioning Southeast Michigan as a premier place to live, work and play.

Member of the Month February 2020 – Wayne County Community College District

The Detroit Regional Chamber recognizes Wayne County Community College (WCCCD) as its February Member of the Month. WCCCD expanded its footprint and presence as a remarkable pathway to higher education in downtown Detroit with the creation of its new $25 million state-of-the-art facility, the WCCCD Curtis L. Ivery Health and Wellness Education Center (HWEC). Read more. 


Member of the Month December 2019 – Wayne State University

The Detroit Regional Chamber’s December Member of the Month is Wayne State University for its innovative approaches to expanding opportunities for postsecondary degree completion in Detroit and across the region, as well as for the exceptional leadership demonstrated by President M. Roy Wilson since beginning his tenure six years ago. Read more. 


Member of the Month November 2019 – WeWork

WeWork Detroit was named the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Member of the Month for November for helping to empower entrepreneurs, small businesses, and global startups in Detroit by providing its shared workspaces that encourage idea-sharing, conversation, and connections, aiding in growth and success. Member of the Month October 2019 – Switch

Switch was named the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Member of the Month for October because of its commitment to sustainability and use of locally-generated 100% renewable energy to power its data centers, including its Pyramid Campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Read more. 

 


Member of the Month September 2019 – LIFT Lightweight Innovations For Tomorrow

LIFT – Lightweight Innovations For Tomorrow was named the Chamber’s September Member of the Month for its service to the community through its new advanced manufacturing program for Detroit students – the LIFT Learning Lab – a state-of-the-art facility featuring eight smaller labs utilizing its IGNITE: Mastering Manufacturing™ curriculum. Member of the Month August 2019 – Detroit Vineyards

Detroit Vineyards was named the Detroit Regional Chamber’s member of the month for August because of their partnerships with local nonprofits, like The Greening of Detroit and Avalon Village, that create community spaces and educate Detroit residents around horticulture and grape harvesting. They currently operate a prototype space on Mack and Beaconsfield in the Morningside community. Read more. 


Member of the Month July 2019 – Detroit Athletic Club

The Detroit Athletic Club (DAC) was named the Chamber’s Member of the Month for July because of its continued devotion to improving Detroit’s communal well-being by hosting the third annual Detroit Cycling Championship. Read more.


Member of the Month June 2019 – Grand Hotel

Grand Hotel was named the Chamber’s June 2019 Member of the Month for the world-class experience and hospitality provided to the more than 1,700 attendees at the 2019 Mackinac Policy Conference. The Mackinac Policy Conference is Michigan’s premier public policy event, convening the state’s most influential business, political, and civic leaders. Read more.


Member of the Month May 2019 – Emagine Entertainment

Emagine Entertainment Inc. was named the Chamber’s member of the month for May 2019 because of their long history as cheerleaders of Michigan. Emagine hires, trains, and retains talent in the state and plays a key role in Detroit’s continued development. Read more.


Member of the Month April 2019 – Brooklyn Outdoor

Brooklyn Outdoor was named the Chamber’s member of the month for April 2019 because of their unique ability to drive creative experiences in outdoor advertising and their position as the only national, certified women-owned outdoor advertising agency in Detroit and in Michigan. Read more.


Member of the Month March 2019 – FCA

FCA was selected as the Member of the Month in March 2019 because of their announcement to invest $4.5 billion to expand production capacity in Michigan. Read more.


Member of the Month February 2019 – Waymo

Waymo was selected as the Member of the Month in February 2019 because of their recent promise to invest up to $13.6 million in a new self-driving hardware installation facility in Metro Detroit. Read more.

 


Member of the Month January 2019 – DADA

The Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) has been selected as Member of the Month for January in recognition of Executive Director Rod Alberts’ leadership role in transitioning the show from January to June beginning in 2020. Read more.


Member of the Month December 2018 – WW

Longtime Detroit Regional Chamber member, Farmington Hills-based WW, previously known as Weight Watchers, was chosen as the Member of the Month for December because of its recent effort to broaden the role the company plays in helping individuals live healthier lives. Read more.


 

Member of the Month November 2018 – The Parade Company

In recognition of its commemoration of Art Van Elslander, a longstanding icon in the Detroit community, the Detroit Regional Chamber chose The Parade Company as the Member of the Month for November. Read more.


Member of the Month October 2018 – General Motors

GM logoGeneral Motors was chosen as Member of the Month for October 2018 because of its important work enabling change in Detroit’s neighborhoods through the NeighborHUB grant program. Read more.


Member of the Month September 2018 – Lucerne International

Lucerne International was chosen as the Member of the Month for September 2018 because of their work to raise awareness on the impact that tariffs and a trade war could have on the business community in Southeast Michigan.
