Walsh College Names David Dieterle, PH.D., to Full-Time Finance and Economics Faculty

Walsh College has appointed David Dieterle, Ph.D., an exceptional educator and experienced administrator, to its full-time academic faculty as associate professor in the Finance Department, according to Gregory Todd, associate professor and chair, Finance and Economics.

Dr. Dieterle has been president and chief academic officer, Michigan Council on Economic Education. He has also held positions as president and executive director, Illinois Council on Economic Education, at Northern Illinois University, and executive director, Nebraska Council on Economic Education, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

During his career, Dr. Dieterle has taught economics at several colleges, including the University of Cincinnati, Doane College, Central Michigan University, Northern Illinois University, and the University of Michigan-Flint. He has served as a member of the Walsh College adjunct faculty since 2003.

“As a Walsh College adjunct, David has already made a significant contribution to our department, our faculty, and to our students,” Todd noted. “We look forward to his professional insights and personal engagement in enhancing our undergraduate and graduate finance programs.”

Dr. Dieterle earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Economics from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Teacher Education in Economics from Michigan State University.

Among other publications, Dr. Dieterle is the editor of Economic Thinkers: A Biographical Encyclopedia and is completing work as the editor of Economics: The Definitive Encyclopedia from Theory to Practice. He also has an extensive background in economic educational consulting, professional speaking, and numerous community activities.

Walsh College offers a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Master of Science in Finance.

Registration for the winter 2017 semester begins Nov. 21. Classes begin Jan. 4, 2017.
