Walsh Expands Student Emergency Assistance Fund to Help Students Affected by COVID-19 Pandemic

TROY, Mich., March 26, 2020 — Walsh has expanded its Student Emergency Assistance Fund to provide additional support for students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund will provide stipends for students experiencing a financial hardship related to COVID-19 because of a change in income status for themselves, their spouse or their parent (if the student is a dependent). Students must be currently enrolled at least half time, which is six hours for undergraduate students and three hours for graduate and doctoral students. Applications for assistance may be submitted through Walsh’s website at Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and subject to approval and available funds.

“Students experiencing financial stress see it as a primary obstacle to continuing their education. We have always recognized this at Walsh and have had a fund for exactly this purpose,” said Susan Foley, Vice President, Chief Institutional Advancement Officer. “Resources for the Student Emergency Assistance Fund are urgently needed to support the vast number of critical needs that students are experiencing in these very challenging times.”
