Talent Preparation Goal
To create better alignment between education providers and employers so students are equipped to choose a career that provides a family-sustaining wage.
Indicators and Targets for 2030:
- Increase non-degree credential completion by 2,000 credentials
Why focus on preparing regional talent?
Talent continues to be a top priority of employers, who struggle to find workers with the skills and abilities needed to fill key positions. Countless credentials and certifications exist across the region and state, so it is important to identify those credentials that have value in the labor market and lead to high-growth, high-demand, high-wage career opportunities.
Equity Focus
Credentials that lead to low-wage career pathways, such as home health care, are overwhelmingly held by women of color. Providing career exposure and pathways early, while identifying and promoting credentials of value, will lead to an increase in Black and Latinx students pursuing high-wage, high-growth career opportunities.
Partners Committed To Preparing Regional Talent
Over the next decade, Detroit Drives Degrees will continue to lead and convene partners to implement the talent preparation strategies outlined in the Compact’s strategic plan. We appreciate the leadership of the organizations below who have pledged to support this work.
