Grow Detroit Young Talent

Are you aware of the education opportunities available to Detroiters and Southeast Michigan residents?

Detroit Reconnect is an initiative to help adults pursuing or returning to higher education gain new skills, advance in the workplace, and fulfill lifelong dreams of completing a degree or credential. It does this by providing adults who are 21 or older with services and resources to assist with:

  • Completing high school (GED, high school equivalency, etc.)
  • Finding the best fit for college, university, and trade school
  • Sourcing and understanding tuition benefits, grants, scholarships, and other funding options
  • Navigating to and through college, university, and trade school
  • Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Exploring careers and job placement opportunities
  • Getting referrals for holistic support, such as housing, transportation, basic needs, etc.

About Detroit Reconnect

Detroit Reconnect was founded by the Detroit Regional Chamber as part of its Detroit Drives Degrees initiative to make higher education a reality for adults in Southeast Michigan. It aligns with the Chamber’s commitment to advancing education and talent development across the Detroit Region. With a focus on increasing access to opportunities, ensuring success, and growing a skilled workforce, the Chamber plays a pivotal role in supporting all residents in the Region. Through programs like Detroit Reconnect, the organization delivers impactful initiatives aimed at equipping talent for both current and future workforce demands. These efforts underscore its dedication to fostering economic growth and creating opportunities for all residents in the Region.

Detroit Reconnect offers resources designed to support students in pursuing postsecondary education, contributing to the Chamber’s goal of achieving a 60% postsecondary attainment rate while reducing the equity gap by half by 2030. As a partner of Michigan Reconnect, Detroit Reconnect actively supports the state’s broader educational attainment initiatives.
