Today, the Detroit Regional Chamber announced that Megan Spanitz, Chief Strategy Officer, will take on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer upon Tammy Carnrike’s retirement from the role on June 30.
Spanitz has been with the Chamber since 1999, holding various roles throughout the organization focused on communications, brand awareness, customer engagement, and fundraising. Today, she plays a leading role working across the organization to ensure revenue growth, operational efficiency, and strategic planning. Spanitz is also a leader on the core team that plans and executes the annual Mackinac Policy Conference and has been central to the increased profile of the Conference over the past decade.
“Given Megan’s double-decade tenure and impact at the Chamber, she is the logical choice to lead the organization’s operations and strategy into the future, and has the strong support of our Board’s leadership in doing so,” said Sandy K. Baruah, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Over the next few months, as the Chamber team prepares for Tammy’s departure, we will determine how to optimize the role to Megan’s experience and to continue maximizing impact and relevance, creating new efficiencies, and ensuring strong stewardship and the long-term sustainability of one of the nation’s most historic and largest business advocacy organizations.”
The Detroit Regional Chamber has doubled its revenue in the last decade and is among the top three business chambers in the nation. Spanitz has been a central element of this growth and will be a key part of the Chamber’s future trajectory. “I look forward to the leadership Megan will provide in the years to come,” said Baruah.
