Angelique Power is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Skillman Foundation, a foundation that partners with people to transform education systems and nurture the brilliance of Detroit youth. Under Power’s tenure, The Skillman Foundation has led a community-rooted strategic planning process to rethink its grantmaking and metrics. She architected an annual racial equity audit of all grants, operations, and endowment dollars, allowing the Detroit-based foundation to be transparent and accountable to its community. She also elevated the role of the Skillman Youth Council to bring them to decision-making tables within the Foundation and across Michigan.
Prior to The Skillman Foundation, Power was President of the Field Foundation and Program Director at the Joyce Foundation.
Power is a board member of Bas Blue, CultureSource, Detroit Future City, Detroit Public Theatre, Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, Michigan Future, Inc., The Parade Company, United States Artists, and serves on Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s Workforce Development Board and the United Greenway Advisory Board.
Power earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and both a Master of Fine Arts and an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
