State Representative (R-Midland)

State Rep. Bill G. Schuette is currently serving his second term in the Legislature, representing the 95th House District, which includes all of Midland County, and Beaverton, Billings, and Tobacco townships in Gladwin County.

Schuette serves as Chair of the House Rules Committee and serves on the Finance, Insurance, and Judiciary committees.

In 2024, Schuette’s efforts as Chairman of the House Republican Campaign Committee helped lead the effort to take back the Michigan State House, which was the only Legislative Chamber in the U.S. to flip from Democrat to Republican control.

At the start of the 2025-26 legislative term, Schuette was appointed Chair of the House Select Committee on Protecting Michigan Employees and Small Businesses. As Chair, Schuette led discussions and helped advance reforms that protected workers and small business owners following a controversial ruling from the Michigan Supreme Court in July 2024.

Prior to being elected to the 95th House District, Schuette served as an Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), where he worked as one of the agency’s leading counter-drug analysts and was sent to Mexico in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command. In 2020, the DIA deployed Schuette to the Middle East in support of the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, which was the U.S. military’s principal counter-ISIS force.
