Brian Peters is the Chief Executive Officer at the Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA), one of the nation’s largest state hospital associations. His responsibilities include executive leadership of the MHA Health Foundation.
In his 29 years with the MHA, Peters has served as the Executive Vice President, the Senior Vice President of Advocacy, the association’s director of the Legislative Policy Panel, the Business Advisory Council, the Council of Physicians, the Council on Small or Rural Hospitals, and the Council on Osteopathic Health Care. In addition, he is a contributing author of “Technology and the Future of Health Care: Preparing for the Next Thirty Years.”
Peters serves and has served on a number of Boards of Directors and Committees, including the MHA Board of Trustees, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and NextPlane Solutions. Most recently, he joined the Advisory Board of the new Michigan State University Broad College of Business. Peters is a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed Captain and was formerly the President of Charlevoix Marine Services, Inc.
He earned a master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He also completed an executive fellowship with the National Center for Healthcare Leadership; completed the Health Executive’s Development Program at Cornell University; and studied the British health care system with the King’s Fund College in London.
