Walker-Miller recently received the 2021 Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame Award and the 2021 Detroit Women’s Leadership Award. Other awards received in recent years include the 2020 Inc. Magazine Female Founders 100 and 2020 Cool Places to Work. Walker-Miller’s work has been acknowledged in Black Enterprise, Essence Magazine, Forbes, FORTUNE, Inc., MSNBC, CNBC, The Edison Electric Institute Energy Perspectives, and among others.
Driven by her giving spirit, Carla founded the Water Access Volunteer Effort (WAVE) Fund in 2003, while serving as a Commissioner for the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
Walker-Miller serves on the Mayor of Detroit’s Workforce Development Board, the Autism Alliance of Michigan, the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council, Michigan Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, the Neighborhood Defender Service National Board, and Executive Director of the Water Access Volunteer Effort, among numerous others.
Walker-Miller received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tennessee State University.
