Dan Benishek M.D. (R-Crystal Falls) has served as a U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 1st congressional district since January 2011.
Prior to his election, Benishek served as a general surgeon in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in a private practice for over 30 years. He has also worked part-time at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan for the past twenty years.
Benishek has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Michigan and a medical degree from Wayne State University.
