David Hefner
David Hefner is the vice president of Health Affairs for Wayne State University. He was elected in July 2015 and his primary focus is on strengthening the strategic alignment of the Wayne State School of Medicine with the Wayne State Physician Group and its hospital partners.
From 2011 to 2014, Hefner served as executive vice president of Clinical Affairs for Augusta University Health System. In this role, he navigated Georgia Regents Health System into a first-of-its-kind, 15-year, $350-million shared-risk partnership with Royal Philips. Prior to his joining Augusta University, he served as the president of the University of Chicago Medical Center and CEO of the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Hefner has worked as a consultant for more than 75 academic medical centers and faculty practices, and thousands of private physician practices and hospitals nationwide.
