Deirdre Young

Chief Diversity Officer and Assistant Dean, Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusion, College for Creative Studies

Deirdre Young is the Chief Diversity Officer of the College for Creative Studies and is an enthusiastic advocate for quality health programming and social justice for marginalized populations.

Before her current role, Young served as Vice President of Health and Equity for United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where she led efforts for community impact strategies to mobilize communities. She was also the Director of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School, leading efforts to secure more than $1.5 million in grants for student pipeline programming to provide underrepresented students with support and resources for professional success.

Young was named to Crain’s Detroit Business “Notable Leaders in DEI” and “40 Under 40”.

Young earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Howard University and a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University.
