Garrick J. Rochow

President and Chief Executive Officer, CMS Energy and Consumers Energy

Garrick J. Rochow is President and Chief Executive Officer of CMS Energy and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy.  

Rochow has a strong background in the utility industry. He has spent over two decades at Consumers Energy, leading various areas of the business. Prior to his role as President and Chief Executive Officer, Rochow was Executive Vice President of Operations. He was responsible for the company’s electric and natural gas distribution and transmission operations, generation and compression operations, operations performance, regulatory compliance, and planning and scheduling. Along with his vast operational experience, Rochow has also led the customer experience, regulatory, quality, and financial planning organizations at various points in his tenure at Consumers Energy. 

He currently serves on the boards of Business Leaders of Michigan, Hubbell Incorporated, Edison Electric Institute, the New Community Transformation Fund, Priority Health, The Right Place, and the West Michigan Policy Forum. He has previously served on the board of the American Gas Association. 

Rochow earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University. He also attended an executive education program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Wisconsin School of Business.
