Michigan Representative (R-Norton Shores)

Greg VanWoerkom represents Michigan’s new 88th House District, which encompasses parts of Muskegon County and Ottawa County. He is Republican Vice Chair of the House Tax Policy Committee and Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity as well as a member of the Economic Development and Small Business and Health Policy Committees.

VanWoerkom helped craft the last several state budgets, including those that helped steer Michigan through the COVID-19 pandemic. He championed the development of the MI Tri-Share program and helped lead other initiatives to improve access to childcare for working families across the state.

He was a key member of the House Appropriations Committee as chair of the Subcommittee on Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2020.VanWoerkom was the district director for U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga and previously served as the senior policy advisor to U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra. He serves on the board of the United Way of the Lakeshore.

VanWoerkom earned a bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and a master’s degree in political leadership from George Washington University.
