Jack Bergman represents the Michigan House’s 1st District of Michigan and serves on the House Armed Services Committee, House Budget Committee, and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee in the 119th Congress.
Prior to taking office in January 2017, Bergman was a small business owner, a commercial airline pilot for 22 years, and a U.S. Marine Corps officer. During the Vietnam War, he flew CH-46 helicopters and later served as a flight instructor at Whiting Field, Florida.
In 2005, Bergman assumed command of the Marine Forces Reserve/Marine Forces North based in New Orleans and later retired from the Marine Corps in December 2009 at the rank of Lieutenant General. He is the highest-ranking combat Veteran ever elected to Congress.
