Michael Chui

Michael Chui is a Senior Fellow at QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey and Co. He leads research on the impact of disruptive technologies and innovation on business, the economy, and society. Chui has led McKinsey research in such areas as AI, robotics and automation, the future of work, data and analytics, collaboration technologies, the Internet of Things, and biological technologies.

Chui is a frequent speaker at major global conferences, and his research has been cited in leading publications worldwide. His Ph.D. dissertation, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For: Web Searching as Query Refinement,” examined Web user search behaviors and the usability of Web search engines.

As a McKinsey consultant, Chui served clients in the high-tech, media, and telecom industries on strategy, innovation, and product development, IT, sales and marketing, M&A, and organization. Chui is a global co-sponsor of the Asians at McKinsey affinity network, on the board of the James Irvine Foundation, on the advisory board of the Asia Society of Northern California, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Chui served as the first Chief Information Officer of the City of Bloomington, Indiana, and was founder and executive director of HoosierNet, Inc.
