Monica L. Merritt has served as the 14th Superintendent of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) since December 2015, bringing passion, experience, and a student-centered approach to her leadership. Recognized as the 2023 Michigan Superintendent of the Year by the Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators (MASA), Merritt is celebrated for her commitment to fostering innovative, equitable, and high-quality educational experiences for all students.

A proud resident and parent in the P-CCS community, Merritt brings both professional expertise and personal dedication to her role. She is known for her strategic leadership, innovative problem-solving, and unwavering dedication to student success. Her work focuses on creating inclusive learning environments, cultivating future leaders, and ensuring that every student has the tools and opportunities to succeed. She is a dynamic communicator who fosters strong relationships with staff, families, and community stakeholders, building a culture of collaboration and trust across the district.

Merritt earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Michigan State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University.
