Nutrena Tate is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Brand Nu Consulting, Inc. and an Associate Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Health Professions and McAuley School of Nursing.
In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing and health services administration courses, Tate is a published and funded researcher focusing on eliminating health inequities in childhood obesity in populations of color and general health disparities.
Tate is a Fellow of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Diversity Leadership Institute. She is the inaugural chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Tate has provided implicit bias training for over 3,000 participants in health-related organizations across the State of Michigan.
Tate earned her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science in Parent-Child Nursing, and Postdoctoral Degrees from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. She also earned an Executive MBA from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Nursing Research from Wayne State University. She is trained as a Search Advocate through Oregon State University and has a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University.
