Sean Egan is the Deputy Director of Labor for the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). His focus at LEO is labor, primarily overseeing MIOSHA, the Workers Disability and Compensation Agency, the Bureau of Employment Relations, and the Wage and Hour Division. Egan also supports LEO’s efforts across the spectrum as his experience spans many of our goals, including apprenticeship and workplace mental health.
Prior to joining LEO, Egan served as General Counsel to IBEW Local 876 and as an attorney with many other labor unions and worker-focused efforts across Michigan.
Egan serves on the Board of Governors for the Joint Michigan Apprenticeship Program, is a delegate to the Kent/Ionia Labor Council, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Labor Heritage Society of West Michigan.
Egan was awarded the 2023 Samuel Gompers Award from the IAIABC, the 2024 George Meany Award from the Michigan AFL-CIO and Boy Scouts of America, and the 2024 Key Contributor Award from Michigan’s Workforce Development Institute.
Egan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Davenport University and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
