Detroit Regional Chamber, Business Coalition Urge Action Around Earned Sick Time, Minimum Wage Ruling

August 15, 2024

Late July 2024, the Michigan Supreme Court issued a ruling that will bring about significant changes for businesses, including adjustments to earned sick time benefits, an increase in minimum wage, and  phase-out of the tipped wage credit.

In order to ensure that the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act’s (ESTA) requirements are workable, the Detroit Regional Chamber, and a coalition of more than 40 organizations, are urging lawmakers to come together to pass practical and commonsense legislation to lessen the harm of the Supreme Court’s decision on paid leave.
