On July 16, the University of Michigan’s 2026 Summer Program in Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) cohort gathered at the Detroit Regional Chamber for a policy panel discussion with Chamber teammates.
The students spoke with the Chamber’s Brian J. Shoaf, Vice President of Public Policy and Business Advocacy, Adam Majestic, Director of Public Policy and Business Advocacy, Ashley Mathews, Public Policy and Business Advocacy Specialist, and Stephanie Weiss, Director of Detroit Drives Degrees Community College Collaborative (D3C3), while the cohort was in Detroit.
The panel discussed how their respective education and careers led them to public service in Michigan, and how the Chamber’s investments in education, skills, policy, and networks have led to real impact across the state.
