Chamber Statement: Latest on the UAW Strike

October 13, 2023

The Detroit Regional Chamber today released the following statement in response to the ongoing UAW strike:

Sandy Baruah

“The surprise shutdown of Ford’s largest factory this week has dealt another blow to the state’s economy and the hundreds of Michigan-based suppliers connected to that facility. To date, approximately 34,000 workers are on strike against the Detroit Three across 44 plants and distribution centers. But those jarring numbers are just the start as every OEM job is linked to seven to 10 others. The longer these shutdowns continue, and we go without a resolution, the more rapid and irreparable the economic damage to Michigan becomes.”
