Dan Kildee, Representative, U.S. House of RepresentativesDan Kildee is a U.S. Representative from Flint serving Michigan’s 5th District. Kildee currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee. Kildee helped secure $100 million in federal funds to help remove blighted and abandoned homes throughout Michigan, including in Flint and Saginaw. He has also fought to protect afterschool programs and create summer jobs for youths to help reduce violence and provide opportunity. Kildee was also appointed to the President’s Export Council by former Speaker of the House John Boehner to advise the president on America’s trade and manufacturing policies.

Prior to being elected to Congress, Kildee co-founded and served as president of The Center for Community Progress, a national nonprofit organization, where he served as one of the nation’s leading voices on urban land reform and revitalization. He also founded Michigan’s first land bank – the Genesee County Land Bank – which is responsible for over $100 million in redevelopment in the city of Flint. He also served as the Genesee County treasurer, on the Genesee County Board of Commissioners, and on the Flint Board of Education.
