As a trusted company with a solid foundation of logistics expertise, Evans was eager to take on its latest challenge as an authorized operator of a 50,000-square-foot Container Freight Station (CFS) within its Melvindale facility.
“Every imported container is subject to random inspections by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP),” Harthun explains. “When a container is selected for additional inspection, importers are required to route containers to a secured and bonded facility known as a Container Freight Station to prepare it for inspection by Customs officers.”
With close proximity to Metro Detroit ports and rail yards, Evans is uniquely equipped to handle the increased volume of container inspections outlined in a recent Executive Order focused on protecting national security and the economy through enforcement reform.
