Family Activities to Limit Screen Time While Social Distancing

April 6, 2020
Practicing social distancing doesn’t have to mean spending extended amounts of time in front of screens. Consider how you can help make this time more fun and interactive for your family by participating in activities that bring everyone together – and not just in front of the TV.

Family Game Night

Games are a great way for families to interact and have fun together without screens. Besides breaking out your family’s favorite board games, explore thinking games and memory games for kids.

Easy Science Experiments

You may not have a science fair to go to, but trying fun and easy science experiments at home are an easy way to wow kids with just a few ingredients or household items.

Build a Pillow Fort for Reading Time

Not all kids like to read, especially if screens are an easy distraction. Try building a special reading place by making a pillow fort for kids. This will help spark imaginations and make reading fun.

Healthy Baking

Spending time in the kitchen can be a fun and rewarding activity for kids with baking. If you’re trying to keep it healthy, try making some easy healthy baked treats that can take the place of cookies and brownies in your kids’ diet.

Walks and Outdoor Time

To follow social distancing, traveling anywhere is not an option right now. Instead, try taking daily walks as a family and make it a habit. Even while social distancing, everyone should get outside for some vitamin D and movement every day. Try some other fun outdoor activities with kids like games, gardening, and sports.
