Chairman and CEO, First Independence Bank

Kenneth Kelly is the president and CEO of First Independence Bank, responsible for leading the bank’s financial operations, assets, policies and regulations, and overseeing the company’s management infrastructure. Kelly is also chairman of the board of MAC Leasing, an equipment leasing company based in Michigan.

Prior to his current role, Kelly was a business development manager at Southern Company, having previously held roles at Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and Southern Power, where he led negotiations to acquire the first solar facility by Southern Company in the state of California – a $500 million investment.

A cross-functional leader in business, banking, and STEM, Kelly also serves the community as founding member of the Hands-On Birmingham (HOB) organization, whose mission is to connect people with organized and meaningful volunteer opportunities to improve their community.

Kelly earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and his executive MBA from the University of Alabama.
