On June 18, 2025, 75 individuals graduated from Leadership Detroit and joined the 2,500-strong alumni network that includes the Detroit Region’s most notable business leaders and entrepreneurs. Throughout this nine-month intensive program, Class 45 participants gained invaluable knowledge and skills that will allow them to continue their leadership journeys and drive positive change in the Region.
Event remarks were provided by Devon O’Reilly, Fair Lane: Home of Clara and Henry Ford’s President and Chief Executive Officer and former Detroit Regional Chamber’s Senior Director of Community Engagement and Leadership Development, along with Leadership Detroit alumni including Henry Ford Health’s President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Riney (LD15) and the Chamber’s Chief Strategy Officer, Megan Spanitz (LD32.)
As they completed the program, members of Leadership Detroit Class 45 reflected on its impact on them.

“The time spent with Leadership Detroit reignited something that’s always lived within me. But now, after listening, learning, and engaging deeply, I know with clarity that we cannot afford silence. We must work together. The need is too urgent, and the stakes are too high. This isn’t just about professional goals. It’s about doing impactful work – because we must.” – Barry Blackwell, Manager, Community Relations, Henry Ford Health

“Leadership Detroit, to me, means community. It’s more than a leadership program; it’s a new network of people I now consider friends and even family. It’s a space where I can learn from others, lean on their expertise and lived experiences, and continue growing into the kind of leader who listens, collaborates, and leads with purpose.” – Sharnese Harris, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, The Konnection

“It’s been inspiring to go through the program, but I think the most important piece is the lasting network that will be a part of my career, hopefully, for years to come. I’ve met good friends and partners and hope we can all work together over time to make a positive impact on the Region.” – Sam Klemet, Executive Director, Detroit Auto Dealers Association

“Leadership Detroit represents connection, growth, and purpose. It’s a journey that brought together passionate, diverse leaders to challenge assumptions, embrace community, and build a better Detroit. For me, it was a catalyst for deep personal and professional transformation, and a commitment to lead with integrity and impact.” – Tariq Tommy Ziadat, Senior Vice President, Consumer Banking Market Manager, Bank of America
