Once the new platform is operational for both tax and benefit administration, the current Michigan Web Account Manager, known as MiWAM, will be permanently retired.
For employers and third-party administrators across the state, taking action ahead of the fall deadline is essential to prevent administrative disruptions. System downtime is expected over the weekend prior to the November launch to facilitate data migration to the new platform. Having an active MiUI account linked to both tax and benefit functions is necessary to manage unemployment insurance taxes and protest improper benefit charges.
Nearly 10% of Michigan businesses, representing 23,165 employers, have yet to activate their MiUI accounts. Delaying setup risks unnecessary delays, potential tax-handling complications, and missed windows to challenge improper benefit claims, all of which directly impact operating costs.
The Detroit Regional Chamber encourages all business leaders and payroll partners to finalize account activations and ensure credentials are fully configured before Nov. 9, 2026.
