Michigan Technological University has been designated the state’s fourth Research 1 university, a level that puts it among the top research universities in the state and country.
It joins Michigan’s other R1 doctoral universities known for significant levels of research: the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Michigan State University in East Lansing and Wayne State University in Detroit.
