Stephen Ross to lead Talent Driven Development panel at Mackinac Policy Conference

Billionaire real estate developer and University of Michigan megadonor Stephen Ross will be a panelist at the Mackinac Policy Conference next week, organizers announced Monday.

Ross, chairman and founder of New York-based Related Cos., will lead a panel on “Talent Driven Development” on June 1, according to the Detroit Regional Chamber. Ross will be joined by Keith Bradford, senior vice president of Olympia Development of Michigan, and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II. NBC Sports host Mike Tirico, an Ann Arbor resident, will moderate the discussion.

Ross is a Detroit native who earned his bachelor’s degree at UM and law degree at Wayne State University. He heads RSE Ventures, a private investment firm that focuses on sports and entertainment, media and marketing, food and lifestyle and technology. He also owns the Miami Dolphins NFL team. He was a 2019 Crain’s Newsmaker of the Year.

His most recent projects in Detroit include the Detroit Center for Innovation with the Ilitch family and a new housing development with The Platform, both in The District Detroit.
Other notable speakers at the annual political confab at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, which runs May 31-June 3, include Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, former Microsoft CEO, Los Angeles Clippers owner and philanthropist Steve Ballmer, veteran TV anchor Ted Koppel and tech entrepreneur and philanthropist Dug Song.
