The 2023 Mackinac Policy Conference will be here before you know it and securing a place to stay is top-of-mind for attendees. The Detroit Regional Chamber knows it has been a particularly challenging year for securing a room for the Conference and understands attendees’ frustration and concerns. Creating a positive attendee experience is paramount to our team. While the Chamber does not manage Mackinac Island hotels and/or room availability, we are working on solutions to ensure every interested attendee has a place to stay during the Conference.

Registration Cancellation Deadline Extended
The Chamber understands the challenges some attendees have faced finding hotel rooms for the Conference. To accommodate those still looking for lodging, the deadline to cancel your registration and receive a refund minus a 10% fee has been extended to Friday, May 12, 2023. To cancel or transfer registration, contact Marianne Bogard at mbogard@detroitchamber.com.
Staying in Mackinaw City
Mackinaw City is a small, harbor village that has over 2,400 rooms available, including luxurious bed and breakfasts. Better yet, Mackinaw City is only a short ferry ride away from Mackinac Island, and with an expanded ferry schedule this year to ensure those staying in Mackinaw City can fully enjoy the Conference’s events and experiences, it offers more options for those still in need of a hotel room.
On Tuesday, May 30 and Wednesday, May 31, late-night ferries have been added to the schedule for attendees staying in Mackinaw City. The last ferry will depart Mackinac Island at midnight. Conference attendees staying in Mackinaw City will not incur daily fees for Shepler ferry transportation, and Shepler Ferry service will provide complimentary roundtrip shuttle service between Mackinaw City hotels and Shepler ferry dock. St. Ignace is an additional harbor village just north of the Mackinac Bridge that is only a short ferry ride away from Mackinac Island and offers more options for those still in need of a hotel room.
Conference attendees staying in St. Ignace will not incur daily fees for Shepler ferry transportation. However, there will not be complimentary roundtrip shuttle service available between St. Ignace hotels and Shepler ferry dock. Further, there will be no late-night ferries during the Conference.
