Brian J. Shoaf | Vice President, Public Policy and Business Advocacy, Detroit Regional Chamber

As the business voice for Southeast Michigan, the Detroit Regional Chamber is committed to advancing policies and supporting leaders who will strengthen the Detroit Region’s economy, create jobs, and enhance Michigan’s competitiveness.

With that mission in mind, the Chamber PAC recently announced its endorsements for the November General Election. The Chamber PAC carefully reviewed races across the ballot, evaluating candidates from both political parties based on their commitment to economic growth, sound public policy, and a demonstrated ability to work across partisan lines to solve Michigan’s challenges.

The Chamber PAC’s endorsement process focuses on identifying leaders who understand the vital connection between a strong business climate and a thriving economy. After conducting candidate interviews and reviewing records and positions on key issues, the PAC announced endorsements in several races:

Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate

Rogers brings extensive experience in national security, federal policy, and economic issues amid significant uncertainty at both the national and global levels. His understanding of the challenges facing Michigan’s manufacturing and industrial sectors, combined with his experience navigating complex international issues, positions him to be a strong advocate for Michigan in the U.S. Senate.

Doug Lloyd for Attorney General

A career prosecutor with a strong commitment to the rule of law, Lloyd understands that a predictable and fair legal environment is essential to economic growth, investment, and public confidence.

Garlin Gilchrist II for Secretary of State

Gilchrist has demonstrated a commitment to maintaining secure, accessible, and trustworthy elections. Strong democratic institutions help provide stability and confidence that businesses and communities rely on to grow and prosper.

Vote No on Proposal 1 .

Vote No MI

The Chamber PAC urges voters to reject Proposal 1, the Constitutional Convention (Con Con) question appearing on Michigan ballots every 16 years.

Michigan voters have rejected this proposal three times previously, and the Chamber believes the state’s current constitution already provides Michiganians with the tools necessary to make changes through the amendment process. A Con Con would create significant uncertainty, reopen settled issues, and potentially undermine provisions that have served the state well for decades. Learn more.

Vote No on Proposal 2

Polling booths

The Chamber PAC opposes Proposal 2. While transparency and accountability in government are important goals, the proposal raises significant concerns about free speech, political participation, and practical implementation. The PAC believes the proposal could create confusion regarding who may engage in the political process, limit interactions between citizens and elected officials, and lead to costly legal challenges without delivering meaningful reform.

The Chamber PAC’s endorsements reflect its continued commitment to supporting leaders and policies that will help Michigan compete, attract investment, grow jobs, and strengthen the state’s long-term economic outlook.
