2022 North American International Auto Show Sneak Peek

September 9, 2022

After a brief hiatus, the 2022 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) returns to the Motor City on Sept. 14-25 with a transformed and enhanced indoor and outdoor experience at Huntington Place. This reimagined, next-generation auto show will feature a mix of hands-on activations, traditional vehicle exhibits, and a showcase of automotive innovation and technology. With the city’s unique offerings as its playground, outdoor vehicle activations will also take place at Hart Plaza, the riverfront, and various downtown parks.

Take a look below for a sneak peek of this year’s revamped extravaganza:

AutoMobili-D (AMD) Returns

AutoMobili-D (AMD) returns as a showcase for mobility innovation and industry-shaping news on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and Thursday, Sept. 15. For the first time, AMD will integrate into the main show floor, and the exhibit will feature over 80 technology companies, Tier 1 suppliers, startups, and leading universities.

Unique Hands-On Activations

NAIAS will also take advantage of the warm weather. Multiple brands are planning street course ride-and-drives along the new 2023 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix downtown circuit outside Huntington Place.

Flying High

This year’s show features land and air spectacles. The Air Mobility Experience will take place over the Detroit River, in Hart Plaza, and Huntington Place. Flight demonstrations of the XTURISMO, Jet Suit, Icon A5, and Hoverboard will run Sept. 14-18. Additionally, air mobility displays and experiences featuring AIR ONE, ASX’s Sigma-6, and the Icon A5 will be highlighted throughout the show.

A Family-Friendly Experience

Unlike previous years, this year’s event features various family-friendly activities—from spotting the world’s largest rubber duck to getting up close and personal with Monster Trucks. Families attending the auto show will also have the chance to view the Flintmobile from the original motion picture “The Flintstones,” spot life-size dinosaurs on display throughout the show, and test their gaming skills in the Round One Gaming Lab.

Party for a Good Cause

The signature Charity Preview will return Friday, Sept. 16, at Huntington Place with black-tie attire and Nile Rodgers and CHIC as the headlining entertainment. New this year, the party will be expanded to both indoors and outdoors—taking advantage of the weather and the city’s unique atmosphere.

Tickets are required to join in on the fun and celebrate both the auto industry’s advances and the city of Detroit at NAIAS.
