Meet Southeast Michigan County Leaders

On Wednesday, April 30, business leaders heard from CBS Detroit and Detroit Free Press’ Carol Cain, Oakland County Executive David Coulter, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel about public policy issues impacting local businesses and future collaboration within the Detroit Region.

Small Business and Policy

On March 8, the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Public Policy and Business Advocacy team invited small business owners to share their policy concerns and ask questions to better understand the Chamber’s pro-business advocacy. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from speakers including David Knezek, Wayne County Commissioner and former State Senator, Mike McCready, Bloomfield Township Supervisor and former State Representative, and Carolyn Cassin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Michigan Women Forward. They provided unique insights into how policies at the state and federal levels impact small businesses and local communities.

What’s on the Minds of Michiganders?

On Oct. 22, 2024, attendees heard key findings from the Fall 2024 Michigan Voter Poll, which focused on voters’ conflicting opinions on investment in the economy and their reluctance to embrace actions and policies to make Michigan competitive.

FY25 State Budget Meeting

On Aug. 13, 2024, the Detroit Regional Chamber livestreamed its FY25 State Budget Meeting with State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks and State Budget Director Jen Flood. Attendees learned how the state generates the budget and creates recommendations for distributing the funds.

Meet Southeast Michigan’s County Leaders

On May 7, 2024, attendees had the opportunity to discuss public policy issues impacting local businesses with Oakland County Executive David Coulter, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel. In a moderated discussion with CBS Detroit and Detroit Free Press’ Carol Cain, they discussed how they will work together for the future of the Detroit Region.

Meet Southeast Michigan Members of Congress

On Sept. 7, 2023, Chamber members heard from Congressional members from Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties on the Region’s future. The session highlighted how these leaders work together and explored opportunities for bipartisan collaboration in Michigan.

On May 5, 2023, Chamber members had the opportunity to discuss public policy issues impacting local businesses such as regional transit, arts millages, talent attraction, and road funding. Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, Oakland County Executive David Coulter, and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel participated in a discussion about how they will work together for the future of the Detroit region.
