Today is World Health Day. Take some time out of your day to thank all of the health heroes on the frontlines fighting the COVID-19 global pandemic.

#WorldHealthDay: The history of the World Health Organization

For over 70 years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has been promoting global health and keeping the world safe from some of the most dangerous and infectious diseases on the planet. It’s currently coordinating the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Indeed, this is what the WHO does: strive to combat the very worst diseases, illnesses, and infections, and achieve the very highest standards of health for all. View a gallery for a brief overview of the WHO’s greatest achievements since it was established in 1948.

Send Well Wishes to Local Health Care Heroes

On World Health Day and every day, we want to spread kindness and show solidarity with hospital staff and patients to keep their spirits high as they fight COVID-19:

Beaumont Encourages Community to Honor Health Care Heroes

Beaumont Health has launched several ways the metro Detroit community can recognize and show support for their health care heroes. Read more below.

Home Beams for Health Care Teams:

Every evening at 8 p.m., families are encouraged to step outside their front door and shine a flashlight toward their nearest hospital to show support for health care heroes across Southeast Michigan. Families are also encouraged to swap out their porch light with a blue lightbulb as a sign of support for health care heroes and first responders. Post videos and pictures on social media participating in the event, tag Beaumont Health, and use the hashtag #HealthCareHeroes.

Blue Ribbon Campaign:

Beaumont encourages the community to tie blue ribbons around their trees as a sign of support for health heroes. Volunteers have already tied blue ribbons around trees at the health system’s eight hospital campuses. Beaumont also ordered Blue Ribbons to provide to people who donate supplies at designated drop-off locations.

Change Your Facebook Profile Picture Frame to Show Your Support:

Search for “Beaumont” in Facebook’s frame tool in your profile photo options.

Get Creative, Share Art with Beaumont Health Heroes:

Draw a picture to thank the team for their bravery and dedication; email the artwork to socialmedia@beaumont.org and it will be shared with Beaumont’s health care team and might also be shared online. You can also post your picture online, tag Beaumont Health, and use the #HealthCareHeroes hashtag.

Beau the Bear superhero coloring page: Print the picture, color it and display it in your window.
