Ellen Gilchrist serves as the Chief Executive Officer of BasBlue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inclusivity, diversity, and the belief that we are stronger when working and growing together.
Before joining BasBlue, Gilchrist served as the Senior Director of Education and Community Initiatives at United Way for Southeast Michigan, where she worked to ensure youth across Southeastern Michigan had their basic needs met.
Prior to United Way, Gilchrist’s love for youth and community led her through 17 years of various roles in the education space. In Detroit, she worked for Michigan Future Schools, UPrep Schools, and the Detroit Public School Community District.
Gilchrist earned a Bachelor of Arts from Smith College and a Master of Arts from Columbia University.
