Khalil Rahal is the Director of Economic Development for DTE Energy, responsible for attracting and retaining major industrial enterprises within DTE Electric’s service territory to increase revenue, fund infrastructure, and help keep prices down for DTE’s customers. Rahal joined DTE Energy in 2022 as the company’s first director of Economic Development. Before joining DTE, Rahal served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Wayne County and as a Wayne County prosecutor.
Rahal is a leader with an extensive history in community engagement. He serves as chairman of the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) and treasurer of Leaders Advancing and Helping Communities. Rahal also holds board positions with the following organizations: Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), Southeast Michigan Government Alliance (SEGA), Wayne County Land Bank, and Dearborn Corridor Improvement.
Rahal earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Grand Valley State University.
