Peter Provenzano

Chancellor, Oakland Community College

Peter Provenzano is the Chancellor of Oakland Community College (OCC). 

Since joining the College in 2014, Provenzano has led several major initiatives, including focusing on the College’s strategic goal to double the number of students who graduate by 2028. He empowers every OCC student to succeed through academic excellence, a focus on equity and inclusion, and a collaborative, mission-based employee culture. He has overseen sustained enrollment growth, expanded online course offerings from 5% to 50%, and spearheaded the development of new state-of-the-art educational facilities, including science, culinary arts, health sciences, and emergency services training buildings. 

Provenzano is a board member of the Michigan Educational Trust, Michigan Community College Association, Automation Alley, and the Detroit Economic Club. He is also the Treasurer of Immanuel Lutheran Endowment Fund and is a member of the Oakland 80 by 30 Leadership Committee, the Association of Community College Trustees, the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, and the American Council on Education. 

Provenzano earned a Master of Science in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wayne State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant by the State of Michigan and a Chartered Global Management Accountant by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
