Celebrate Black History Month With the Wright
Feb. 1-28 | Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History
Join the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for special talks and events all February that dive deeper into its current exhibitions and its shared history. Some of the highlights include I, Charles H. Wright, which honors the life, vision, and enduring legacy of the museum’s founder, A Journey Through Portraiture, which celebrates the legacy of Michigan artist Paul Collins, and Gems From the Wright, which celebrates the cherished heirlooms, family traditions, and stories passed down through generations of Black Detroiters.
Black History, Bold Art: A Month of Creativity and Culture at the DIA

Celebrate Black history at the museum with a dynamic lineup of events for all ages and interests. Explore art, connect with the community, and gain a deeper understanding of how the past has shaped Black lives today. All events are free of charge with museum admission. Celebrate Black History and Black Futures
Feb. 1-28 | The Henry Ford
Stop by The Henry Ford to explore exhibits focused on the 2025 national Black History Month theme, which is “African Americans and Labor.” Through tours, spotlights, and performances, visitors will have a chance to celebrate the many ways Black innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs, and more moved culture forward.
Starting Saturday, Feb. 22, visitors can also stop by The Henry Ford to explore its collection spotlight, We Shall Overcome: The 60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, which explores the Act and introduces visitors to the Jackson family, who hosted Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and helped strategize to secure voting rights for Black Americans. The Rosa Parks Bus will also be displayed in the With Liberty and Justice for All exhibit. Visitors will also have the chance to hear from curators, enjoy music and dance performances, guided tours, and more.

The Belonging Blueprint: A Black History Innovation Summit

Join Black Tech Saturdays for a day-long event focused on technology and innovation. In partnership with Google Developer Group Detroit, Google, Black Tech Saturdays, Clixie AI, Compass, NSBE Detroit, DTE, and Think Technologies, this event will spotlight the latest advancements in technology and the transformative impact of AI on industries. Attendees will engage in hands-on workshops, product demos, and panel discussions with industry leaders.

Black Business Reunion
Monday, Feb. 17 | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. | TechTown Detroit
Join TechTown Detroit, Wayne State University’s entrepreneurship hub, for its annual Black Business Reunion, which celebrates the legacy and future of Black-owned businesses in Detroit. The event will spotlight entrepreneurs who have played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s growth and success, as well as offer attendees the chance to connect with fellow Black business owners, learn from industry professionals, and access valuable business resources.
The Black Sip Wine Mixer – Black History Edition
Wednesday, Feb. 19 | 6-9 p.m. | Miss Eva’s Detroit
Celebrate diversity in wine with The Black Sip. Discover wines by Black winemakers and explore a welcoming space for all wine lovers. From 6:20-6:40 p.m., attendees will hear from a panel titled “Roots and Vines: Uncorking the Legacy of Black Winemakers,” then from 6:45-7 p.m., attendees will be introduced to wines, and wine sampling and networking will last from 7-9 p.m.
9th Annual African American Family Book Expo and Read-in
Saturday, Feb. 22 | Noon to 5 p.m. | Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center in Highland Park
Attend Detroit Book City for Michigan’s largest African American book expo in celebration of Black history. The event will feature over 30 indie authors. Admission is free with an Eventbrite ticket.
