Lake Michigan Credit Union Announces 2020-21 Hutt Scholarship Essay ContestNovember 10, 2020
This year’s essay topic:
A Day in the Life. Describe one day in your life from the past year.
Applicants are required to write an original 750-1,500 word essay exploring the topic. Essays will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges. The scholarship committee’s principal determining factor in selecting award recipients is the applicant’s passion for the topic. Additionally, the committee will use the following criteria in judging responses to the topic: comprehension of subject, organization, language use, originality, clarity, spelling and grammar.
Since 1991, the Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship has provided over $421,500 in scholarship dollars to local high school seniors. Last year, 1,322 essays were received for consideration.
All applicants must be a resident of Michigan or Florida, or a member of Lake Michigan Credit Union, or the child of a Lake Michigan Credit Union member (except for LMCU employees, children of LMCU employees, directors or officers). All applicants must be high school seniors (includes home school students) and plan to enter a trade school, college or university in the next academic year.
