The Michigan Black Business Alliance has opened its new headquarters, the BLK Biz Hub, at Grand Park Centre at 28 W. Adams Ave. in downtown Detroit (just west of Woodward Avenue and bordering Grand Circus Park).

The BLK Biz Hub is a dedicated space designed to help MBBA members and their businesses thrive and move toward building profitable, sustainable companies.

Overall, the Michigan Black Business Alliance’s mission is to help close the racial wealth gap by developing programs and advocating for policies that result in profitable and sustainable Black-owned businesses that are connected to public and private economic opportunities, while building trusted relationships.

The BLK Biz Hub will serve as a resource for MBBA’s membership of 1,700-plus members, offering a coworking lounge, a business center, classrooms, ideation rooms, and more.

The space also features the “Art of Business” gallery initiative, showcasing art work by local artists. The initiative gives artists the opportunity to sell their work directly from MBBA’s walls and learn more about the fundamentals of business, with a portion of the proceeds supporting MBBA’s mission and the arts.

Closing racial gaps would add $8 trillion to the U.S. economy by 2050, according to a W.K. Kellogg Foundation report.

“That’s the kind of potential we’re unlocking when we invest in Black entrepreneurs,” says Charity Dean, CEO of the Michigan Black Business Alliance, citing the Kellogg Foundation report.

“The BLK Biz Hub is more than a space — it’s our members’ Hub, where they’ll find the resources and support needed to grow stronger businesses and stronger communities.”
