Autism in the D

Project Lead: Tiera Moultrie, Founder and Executive Director
Dedicated to supporting families impacted by autism, Autism in the D offers advocacy, education, and community resources that empower and uplift. Its newest initiative is Detroit’s first adaptive, inclusive play gym, thoughtfully designed with sensory‑friendly environments and supportive programming to ensure every child feels welcome, safe, and celebrated.

City Bird 

Project Lead: Emily Linn, Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Finance Officer
City Bird will transform previously unused storage space into a welcoming, functional community gathering space. The project investment will also support new fixtures and displays, allowing City Bird to expand its curated children’s apparel and toy offerings. The reconfigured storefront will create a more engaging, accessible, and joyful shopping experience for families while better meeting the needs of City Bird’s growing community.

Come Play Detroit

Project Lead: Justin Jacobs, Founder and Owner
Come Play Detroit brings adults together through inclusive intramural sports that promote wellness, teamwork, and community connection. To better serve participants across the city, the organization plans to purchase a van to transport staff and equipment between multiple venues efficiently. This investment will expand program capacity, improve coordination, and ensure leagues and events run smoothly, creating more opportunities for adults to stay active, build relationships, and feel connected through sport.

Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen

Project Lead: Evelyn Stokes, Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Culinary Instructor
Evelyn’s Midtown Kitchen is launching a teaching kitchen at Detroit’s Eastern Market to offer hands‑on cooking classes that celebrate food, culture, and community. Its project will create opportunities for learning, connection, and skill‑building through shared culinary experiences. NeighborHUB’s grant support will help cover remaining professional planning costs, secure key implementation partners, and support essential operating expenses during the early launch phase, ensuring the program can open its doors and begin serving the community with care and intention.

Hamtramck Bazaar

Project Lead: Tahura Holy, Founder and Festive Essentials Owner
Hamtramck Bazaar empowers immigrant women entrepreneurs by creating welcoming spaces for learning, connecting, and thriving. Through hosting six to eight community‑based Makers Market events, the initiative will spotlight small businesses while fostering meaningful cultural exchange. Together, these efforts build economic opportunity, celebrate cultural identity, and strengthen community connections among women entrepreneurs and the neighborhoods they serve.

Hidden in Plain Sight

Project Lead: Kamry Steger, Chief Executive Officer and Founder
The Belonging Place hub in East Detroit is creating a welcoming space where all families can gather, play, and feel at home. By equipping the hub with wheelchair‑accessible and sensory‑friendly play equipment, this project will establish the neighborhood’s first fully inclusive recreational environment. Designed to support children of all abilities, the space will foster connection, joy, and meaningful community relationships, ensuring every family has a place to belong.

Systems Unlimited

Project Lead: Karon Hamiel, Founder and Chief Executive Officer
GETT SMART is creating accessible pathways to opportunity through a mobile and web‑based platform that builds digital literacy, job readiness, and technology skills for justice‑impacted and underserved communities. Designed with equity and inclusion at its core, the platform supports learners as they build confidence and prepare for meaningful employment. NeighborHUB’s grant support will help complete final platform development, expand curriculum offerings, and launch pilot programs in Detroit to bring critical skills, resources, and support directly to the communities that need them most.

Project Lead: Joshua Ashford, Owner and Founder 

Webdroid LAN Center is a Detroit‑based hub where young people and adults come together to explore e-sports, coding, and digital design in a collaborative, welcoming environment. With grant funding from NeighborHUB, Webdroid will enhance its space to better support learning, creativity, and community engagement through an open, flexible layout. These facility improvements, in addition to signage, will elevate the overall experience beyond core infrastructure, creating a vibrant gathering place where digital skills, self‑expression, and community connection can thrive.
