Oct. 17: MichAuto Statement on Automotive Tariff Relief
October 17, 2025

“Today’s announcement is an important and positive step forward for the industry and its ability to remain globally competitive. The extension of reduced import duties on car parts for the next five years means not just greater cost competitiveness for companies assembling vehicles in the U.S. but also much-needed stability and clarity for an industry that has been rocked by just the opposite for several years now.
MichAuto will also continue to support the extension of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the review process for which will officially commence next year. By strengthening, not scrapping, this historically successful trade agreement that was first struck during President Donald Trump’s first term in office, we can create an even stronger North American trading bloc, ready to compete with China at every turn.”
