A Certainty of Opportunity: Four-Year Public Colleges and Universities

Graduating seniors who attain the four year college standards and enroll full-time in a participating college/university and apply for financial assistance, will receive tuition and fees for four years of study provided the student does the following:

  • Maintains a 2.5 cumulative grade point average
  • Applies for financial aid each year regardless of need
  • Registers as a full-time student each semester (12 or more credits).

Four Year College Checklist

  • High school transcript
  • ACT/SAT results (21 or better/990 or better) in reading and math only
  • Acceptance letter from college or university
  • Must apply for financial aid each year, regardless of need
  • Must complete all application forms required by the college or university
  • Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must be in good standing with the college or university
  • Must register as a full-time student each semester (12 or more credits)
  • Must forward a college transcript to the Detroit Compact central office each year for continued assistance
  • Must notify the Compact central office of any changes (address, telephone, e-mail, etc.)
