Carnrike Joins US Army Officials at TCF Field Hospital, Detroit’s Recovery in the Works
April 23, 2020As the civilian aide to the secretary of the army for Michigan, Carnrike plays a crucial role in representing business and community within the state to support and advise army leaders. Carnrike became the first woman ever selected to represent Michigan in this role in 2018.
McCarthy praised Michigan for its quick response to the crisis, acknowledging Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s leadership in building the temporary hospital in nine days. Only 17 patients were treated at the hospital last week, a testament to the state’s success in slowing the spread of the virus.
As Detroit and Michigan prepare to transition into recovery mode, collaborations between federal, state, and civic organizations will remain critical in ensuring health and safety as well as restoration for the economy. Martin noted that this alliance between the army and other agencies and communities has already had a significant effect, with meetings taking place multiple times per day.
