Matt Elliott, president of Bank of America Michigan, will take the helm of the 2023 Mackinac Policy Conference, the Detroit Regional Chamber announced Monday.

Elliott will serve as chair of the conference and first vice chair of the chamber’s board of directors, it said in a news release.

“In addition to his role as a premier business leader, Matt has demonstrated exceptional leadership in making the business case for more equitable outcomes in education and in the workplace— two key Chamber priorities. As businesses strive to attract and retain the high-skill talent needed in today’s hyper-competitive environment, Matt’s insights will be invaluable,” Sandy Baruah, president and CEO of the chamber, said in the release.

The Mackinac Policy Conference, the chamber’s annual gathering of the state’s business, civic and political leaders on Mackinac Island, is scheduled for May 30-June 2 at The Grand Hotel. Elliot will lead an advisory committee of Michigan-based CEOs and chamber leadership to develop next year’s theme and agenda.

“The Mackinac Policy Conference is vitally important, now more than ever, for business leaders and organizations to come together and focus on how we can collectively leverage and explore ways in which to deliver for employees, customers, and citizens of our communities,” Elliott said in the release.

Elliot joined the chamber’s board in 2013 and began serving on its executive committee in 2015, according to the release. He also serves as the Midwest region executive for business banking at Bank of America.
