Black Girl Ventures (BGV) is launching its pitch competition this September, bringing together seven Black and Brown women-identifying founders from around the U.S. to compete for up to $30,000 and other non-monetary prizes to enhance their business.
The tour will start in Chicago on Thursday, Sept. 22, and make its second stop in Detroit on Thursday, Sept. 29 with the assistance of its Detroit partner, Kroger, and three Detroit-based Black and Brown business owners who are actively working to uplift and grow the city’s business ecosystem. The competition will be held at the Pistons Performance Center from 6-8 p.m.
How the Competition Works
Audience members will help decide the winner of the pitch competition by voting through Raisify.com, a voting platform, with dollars. The winner is determined by the number of votes, not the dollar amount raised. All money will go to the founders, despite where they placed in the competition.
Competition Prizes:
- 1st Place: $10,000
- 2nd Place: $6,000
- 3rd Place: $2,000
