The Detroit business community is excited to embrace the revolutionary new program, True School created by successful entrepreneur and marketing expert Carlotta Tutt Holloway. True School is an innovative program based in Detroit offering comprehensive business education and training for aspiring entrepreneurs in the city. The focus of this innovative program is small business and local startups with a curriculum centered around branding, finance, trends and guides for success.

The program was created with the goal of helping Detroit’s business community to grow and thrive adding to the growing ecosystem. True School consists of two main components: interactive classes including real-life case studies and hands-on experiences and an ongoing mentorship program. The interactive classes are designed to give entrepreneurs a solid understanding of the basics of running a business, from finance and accounting to marketing and operations. It also includes a direct workshop to give entrepreneurs the opportunity to apply their knowledge to practical scenarios.

“True School started because I am a lifelong advertising and marketing professional. I’ve worked in areas of global advertising here in Detroit and out of New York. I’ve developed strategies and fully integrated campaigns for clients including Mastercard and Walmart,” said Tutt Holloway.

In 2013, she began teaching classes at Build Institute in Metro Detroit where her love for teaching was sparked while instructing marketing classes. At the time, Holloway was just beginning her marketing agency True Root Marketing, using her real and relevant experience while launching a brand created togetherness and community within her class.

“I became their biggest advocate. I just really wanted to see them grow and thrive differently and I was passionate about helping them along the way. I loved helping them develop and discover epiphanies about their businesses that they never thought about.”

Through the program, entrepreneurs will have access to experienced business owners and professionals who can provide advice and guidance on specific topics and issues. Field trips will allow for real life examples and professional connections. The program is unique in that it is not just about providing resources and education. It’s also about connecting entrepreneurs to one another and creating strong, supportive networks and communities.

“A good candidate would be someone who is open to learning new things about their business and open to sharing about their business as well. The classes are very interactive so it’s important to share your experiences with other students. Students should be open to receiving feedback too.”

The True School Detroit program is being met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the business community. Classes are open to all ages and participants are encouraged to sign up for individual classes and full cohorts to increase their overall experience.

True School is looking to grow Detroit’s entrepreneurial footprint by offering support and guidance needed to create sustainable businesses that will have longevity. Students will not only receive help finding resources and funding, but also education on how to make the most of the funds when they receive it.

Business owners who are ready to take their businesses to the next level while creating a professional network can learn more about True School at truerootmarketing.com.
