The Detroit Historical Museum is hosting a special pop-up exhibit on Wednesday, March 13, in honor of 313 Day. This free event will showcase the work of local designer Tommey Walker, founder of the Detroit vs. Everybody brand.

Walker’s exhibit will feature a collection of garments, accessories, and art, all drawing inspiration from Detroit’s rich history and the artifacts housed in the Detroit Historical Society collection. By blending elements of the past with contemporary design, Walker aims to offer a unique perspective on the city’s resilience, innovation, and diversity.

Visitors can expect a visually captivating experience as they explore vignettes curated by Walker and his team. These displays will highlight various aspects of Detroit’s history and identity, from the legendary Motown sound to the city’s automotive legacy.

Walker explains his motivation: “Detroit has a history that resembles the characteristics of its citizens; it is spirited, fascinating, and heroic. Our history deserves to be the center of everyday conversations. Detroit Vs Everybody has joined forces with the Detroit Historical Society to start the conversation, in a real way.”*

Walker hopes the exhibit will inspire visitors to persevere, contribute, unify, and innovate. Whether you’ve lived in Detroit, loved it from afar, or are simply curious about its story, this event is for you.

Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in Detroit’s past and present on 313 Day!
